Hectronic, a specialist in embedded PC platform technology, has announced the H6049, a Computer-On-Module based on Intel’s Atom Z510/530 CPUs and the companion SCHUS15W chipset. Measuring 70mm x 70mm, it is ideal for ultra compact, mobile designs.
The Intel Atom Qseven module is the first member of a planned family of products from Hectronic, based on the new Qseven standard. The design is compliant with the 1.1 revision of the Qseven specification.
The feature set includes for example 1.1GHz and 1.6GHz CPU options, onboard soldered DDRII memory from 256MB to 1GB, two PCIe ports alternatively one PCIe port and one 1 Gbit ethernetcontroller, and an optional, soldered, onboard industrial grade BGA NAND Flash SSD.
The PCB design is optimised for good EMC characteristics and heat transmission.
The Qseven standard is defined for low cost, and Hectronic is targeting volume applications in the ultra mobile embedded space, such as handheld, battery powered equipment. Such applications are for example testers, medical devices and rugged tablets. The H6049 Intel Atom Qseven module is also a good fit for other applications that require small form factor, low power, low cost and x86 performance, like HMIs, digital signage solutions, and DIN rail PCs.
The H6049 Atom Qseven module is expected to be available for early access sampling to OEMs in Q1 2009. A starter kit with reference carrier, full documentation as well as board support packages for Linux, Windows CE 6.0 and embedded XP will become available later in the quarter.
Technical support is provided directly from Hectronic’s development team in Uppsala, near Stockholm, Sweden.
Hectronic is a participating member of the Qseven consortium. The company is also a member of Intel’s Embedded and Communications Alliance.
